Speak for yourself.

I am on multiple tech mailing lists and have been providing free help
& support for Ubuntu on its list since the day it launched.

Life is too short for clumsy clunky web fora with their hideous mess
of proprietary markup languages, horrid top-quoting, crappy or missing
threading, bandwidth-squandering graphics and all the other
time-wasting junk that comes along with them. I refuse to use them.
They are a crutch for people who don't know how to use email properly.

I have all my email since 1992 archived and indexed and searchable
here. It's elegantly sorted, categorised and threaded.

If WINE goes to forums-only, I won't ever be offering help on WINE
issues again. Not that I am claiming to be a great expert, but it's a
useful tool.

Official developer or community presence on this list would be more
use than any fora.
