A user proposed to run Wine on Chrome OS. Actually I once tried compiling Wine with the NaCl SDK: https://wiki.winehq.org/NaCl , but it turned out to be too hard to produce runnable binaries for Chromebooks. Finally Michael M. wrote some interesting insides on that topic. | ||

A user asked about the state of Wine64 on OS X: Where would you find information on wine64 status for running 64 bit windows software under OSX. These days a lot of Windows programs are going 64bit to make use of the available memory. It’s becoming necessary to have this capability. Stefan gave a good explanation: OSX has an ABI incompatibility with Win64 - OSX overwrites a CPU register that Win64 applications expect to remain untouched. Apple can’t change the ABI because there are already 64 bit OSX apps that expect things to work that way. A potential workaround may be to run Wine inside a CPU emulator like qemu, but that is anything but easy. | ||
