[Wine] Problem with accents

Hi,
¿Why my Windows application  does not allow me to use accents with wine? I have read in some post that wine detects the locale automatically, ¿What can be the problem? 

I use:

Ubuntu 8.04.1 
Wine 1.0 
LANG=es_ES.UTF-8
