detailed descrption of failure
The game Knights and Merchants used to run but fails with the current Debian 8
(Jessie) release of wine. The cdrom disk opens ok and installs but I get a
message on starting the game that there was an error and the game will close.
The detailed output indicates a segmentation fault.

You are using an old version of Wine. Please update to 1.8.3 (stable) or 1.9.13
(development).

Anyway the crash is inside your graphics driver, aside from updating wine you
should update your graphics driver too.
I played KaM last month in wine 1.9.x and did not have any issues, I also
switched to the GoG version to simplify the usage (no more CD-ROM) and shortly
after I switched to KaM Remake in order to get rid of some bugs in the original
game, all working fine.

Thanks all for your input. I will let Debian know they are distributing a very
old version of Wine and also look into any updates for My Nvidia card. It is a
new GTX1080 so apparently not all the bugs have been worked out.

After being scourged in the Debian forum for daring to suggest that a newer
version of wine be added, I switched to Linux Mint. Problem solved.
