If you don't know what a clean prefix the second part of your reply is moot.
/home/youruser/.wine is your prefix, where your installed programs and data is.
either move it or do something like this to use a new prefix temporarily:

WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-20824 sh winetricks dotnet20
WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-20824 wine curse_setup.exe
cd ~/.wine-20824/drive_c/Program\ Files\Curse\ Client
WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-20824 wine curse.exe
