re #66, thanks for opening this bug and for your help in testing so far. It
made me decide to get involved instead of just waiting for someone else to deal
with it. You might still want to hang on to that card in a drawer because, as
Stefan put it, the Mesa ATI drivers have been undergoing significant
development. 
I would also expect that the D3D->OpenGL translation layer in Wine is going to
extract a significant performance penalty with NVidia blobs as well.

On the other hand, I think another contributor to this bug report was looking
to upgrade from an R300. :-)
