Yes. It also fixes a minor text glitch in the menu and in-game cut-scene
flickering.
No visible performance drawback.

Computer 1 is NVIDIA GTX 970 with proprietary driver 367.57 (Debian 7 64-bit -
multi-monitor 3840x1024).
Computer 2 is NVIDIA 9800 GT with proprietary driver 340.96 (Debian 8 64-bit -
single monitor 1920x1080).
Game uses DirectX 9.
