This bug report could be close:
- it's finally no more a wine bug, I bought the  CD (Warcraft III v1) and even
on recent Windows version the movies do not play correctly, only a black
screen, only sound, like in Wine.

- Blizzard fixed this issue for Windows 8/10 in recent digital version, since
Warcraft III 1.28.x version.
- if you only want to play your old Warcraft III CD version, install
LIBAVFilters and the videos will play correctly:
