Please don't say "every application", at least not without naming specific
examples. Does it happen with wine builtins (e.g. winecfg, explorer, regedit)?

Does it happen when creating a new prefix? See

if you need instructions.

If you open a system monitor (e.g. top/atop/htop), does it show specific
processes consuming CPU time (or memory, or disk)?
