Keyboard not fully working?

Hi,

I have a friend that it is running a Windows game ("Steel Panthers: 
World at War" or SPWaW for short, from Matrix Games, 
www.matrixgames.com) with WINE. I am running this game too with WINE: 
http://www.geocities.com/sinner_prairy/Steel/linux_en.html

If works with me perfect (well, it is somewhat slow, but it is fully 
playable, so I do not complain at all).

But my friend has some problems:

The keyboard does not completely work in this game. Yes, only the "ESC" 
key and a few others work. And for this game you need your keyboard.

What can be the problem?
