Why is there an dosmod binary?

I know dosemu very well and I´m using it for two years now running my
dos based fido mailer system.

But I do have one mathematical program (derive for dos; the modern
win versions will not run under wine) which switches between text-
and graficsmode so that I wanted to give it a try under wine.
