I have no idea about what your problem is, half life has bean reported to work
quite well on wine, anyway, I advise you send your config file, all the output,
you try the game without desktop mode, and just check that native linux openGL
games work.  Also check that your copy of wine is compiled with opengl support,
if yes, you should have a file called opengl32.dll.so in /usr/lib or usr/local/lib
