I wounder if you have considered PlanMaker from SoftMaker, which has a
free for non-commercial use version, and is quite compatible with the
Microsoft product. It
comes in a native Linux version, as part of an office suite--SoftMaker
Office. Or even buy the commercial product--it's less than $100--and the
German makers are good
at answering emailed questions if you run into trouble. Unfortunately, I
don't write spread-sheets, so I have no idea if it would solve your
problem, but you might write
them and ask. (I have to say that I think spread-sheets are the most
clumsy way to do math that I have ever encountered!)
