maybe, this is the same problem as bug 6020.
Is there a demo of game?
Could you attach a log with winedebug=+d3d_caps,+d3d,+ddraw,+X11settings

More info:
I *thought* this had been fixed because fonts were being drawn correctly.
Then I found out that my TrueType fonts were not in my X font server setup.
When I added them to the font server config and restarted the font server, BAM!
the fonts were at an angle again - and also were very small (I run a very high
DPI screen).
I would conjecture that when non-Truetype X fonts were being used, then all was
well, but adding the TrueType fonts exposed the bug again.

>I think the real reason why the game crashs is now described in #6183.
>Dont know if this bug can now be closed.
You're right. This bug/crash seems totally unrelated to directX , but is really
a sound issue. Bug 6183 has the appropriate debug info, so resolving this as a
duplicate of that one.

------- Additional Comments From truiken(a)gmail.com 2006-29-09 19:34 -------
You need to rm -rf .wine and try again. You have to set your windows version to
"Windows XP" in winecfg. With latest git, this is still crashing in shdocvw.
Anyway, this bug isn't about running msiexec /i "Adobe Audition 2.0.msi". This
bug is about the msxml errors that occurr when you run wine setup.exe. Please
stop changing this.
